Here’s An Opinion On:
Do You Really Need A Smart Phone?
by

Everybody seems to have them. You can see people doing all sorts of things with them. How in the world did we live without them? Well, live without them we did, as Yoda would say. But that\’s the story with technology. After all, everybody did just fine without microwave ovens. But now that we\’re used to them, how in the world are we supposed to cook our frozen burritos?
Of course, it\’s not like you\’ll be stuck in the dark ages without a smart phone. You\’ll still be able to call and even text your buddies. But smart phones are expensive. Some are more than four hundred bucks, if you buy them outright. Those pay as you go plans are getting more popular, which means you\’ve got to plunk down a big chunk of change up front in exchange for your freedom. Is it worth it? Let\’s look into this, shall we?
First of all, what are the benefits of a smart phone, and do they warrant the price? If you text a lot, then you\’ll definitely benefit from one. They are much easier to send texts, and they\’re much easier to read when you receive them. This opens up a whole new world of communication where none existed before. You\’ll be texting in situations that you\’d never dreamed of before.
On the other hand, if you are a no-nonsense kind of guy and only use your phone for voice calls to set appointments or order pizzas, then texting, and smart phones, aren\’t for you. Of course, your friends might see you as old fashioned, but that\’s there problem. You only need your phone for one thing, and one thing only.
There\’s also the apps that you can get on your smart phone. Anything from weight loss programs to software that will help you reverse engineer the stock market and make a billion dollars. Plenty of people couldn\’t live without their GPS add ons that will tell them every time they pass a public library. Not that they\’d ever go in one, but it\’s nice to know where they are.
Naturally, if you don\’t care much for weight loss, stock market riches, or books, then these apps won\’t hold you interest. After all, you may be more of an old fashioned, trial and error guy who can find their own way in this big bad world.
For the rest of us that need a helping hand, we\’ve got our smart phones.
If you\’re not sure if you need a
smart phone
, then perhaps considering a
pay as you go
plan will help. Many people are finding that this is the best way to go.
