Advantages Of Voip Phones

Submitted by: Derek Rogers

Phones are necessity in everyday life. Can you think of trying to live without one? I didn’t think so! The land line phone is a staple in homes all over the world, and the only complaint regarding them is that you need a phone line installed in order to use them. Generally this line costs quite a bit per month and it has a number of restrictions on it.

The alternative to the standard landline phone is the VoIP phone. What makes it better? Well there are a number of things actually. First of all it operates using your internet connection. Rather than being assigned a line it is given a unique IP address, which is where we get the term Voice Over IP. That sounds fancy and all, but what exactly does it entail? Well it means that you don’t need a landline installed, and you don’t need to rely on the phone company for your service. For some people that it reason enough to go for a service like this.

The one thing that draws people to mobile phones is the fact that you can have unlimited long distance for a very low price. In fact, the price of the long distance and the phone service together will usually equal the amount you would pay for a land line phone’s local service. Other services offered in certain VoIP package are Click to Call, Find Me/Follow me, and many other features which justify the move from standard landlines to VoIP without any question.

Let’s say that you want to visit another country. You can take your VoIP phone with you! While it won’t act as a mobile, it will allow you to plug it into any laptop or desktop, and people will still be able to call you. You can feel free to talk for as long as you want without incurring any long distance bills no matter where you happen to be at the time. Can you really think of anything better than that?

Is it easy to set up? Absolutely! All VoIP companies have made it incredibly easy for first time users to get set up with their new VoIP service. There are some concerns however, and they are rather legitimate. One concern is that you won’t be able to use your phone if there is no power, or if the broadband internet connection goes out. This is absolutely true, but most people have a cellular phone as a backup, or in most cases a primary, so it’s not something that you generally need to worry about. Typically if you are using this for a business your Internet will not go down very often.

There are many different reasons to have a VoIP phone, and these are just a few of them. Almost everyone will agree that an VoIP connection is much better than a plain old phone line, so if you’re curious at all, or even if you’re not, find a company that specialises in VoIP phones today!
